Tour #35 Grizzly Bear Viewing from Vancouver 2 Nights/3 Days
Day 1: Vancouver to Campbell River
This morning you will be transferred from your downtown Vancouver accommodation to the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal for your ferry to Nanaimo, where you transfer to the Coast Bastion Hotel to meet your tour. A taxi voucher for this transfer is included in your documentation. Your motorcoach tour departs the Coast Bastion hotel between 11:15 and 11:30 and continues north to the Coombs Country Market, made famous for the goats that graze on the roof, where a 1-hour lunch stop is made (lunch not included). After lunch the tour follows a scenic route along the shoreline through Qualicum Beach and north on the Island Highway to Campbell River.

NOTE: The Vancouver-Nanaimo portion of this itinerary is not escorted. As documents are required for this tour, the guest's hotel in Vancouver should be advised at the time of booking. Ask about options to fly to Nanaimo by float plane.
Day 2: Grizzly Bear Watching
Your Grizzly Bear Watching Journey starts with travel aboard a high-speed, covered vessel to the Orford River Valley located in picturesque Bute Inlet on the mainland of British Columbia. This pristine river valley is home to 40 resident grizzly bears (more than nearby Knight Inlet) and is also the historic home of the Homalco First Nation, one of the Coast Salish tribes. Upon arrival you will be met your Homalco Aboriginal guides before travelling along the Orford River Valley by minibus to specially designed platforms situated along the river in strategic locations ideal for viewing the mighty grizzlies. Here you'll have the opportunity to witness firsthand the autumn ritual of these bears feasting on spawning salmon in CanadaŽs true wilderness. Observation platforms offer complete security so that youŽll more fully appreciate your glimpse into the lives of these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. This beautiful river offers panoramic views and three hours are spent in the river valley at various bear viewing platforms. You may also observe killer whales, dolphins, eagles, and other wildlife in their natural environment.
